About
Andrea is a recent graduate from The Sydney Conservatorium of Music majoring in the violin. She was under the tutalage of the Head of Strings Prof Goetz Richter and later Dr Marina Robinson. In 2014, she founded “The Chamber Project,” an arts organization with the mission to change the way classical music is presented in today’s society and to support emerging musicians as well as to include a wider audience. That same year, Andrea was offered an internship with Australia’s biggest classical music and arts magazine “Limelight.” Upon completion of her internship, she was offered a position as the Artistic Director of Chronology Arts by Limelight publisher Andrew Batt-Rawden. She is the current Education Manager at The Sydney String Centre.
At a tender age of thirteen she achieved her Grade 8 on the violin and went on to attain her DipABRSM from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (UK). In 2011, she graduated from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Singapore) where she obtained her Diploma in Music (Performance) studying the violin under Lynette Lim. During her three year stint at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, she was an avid player in the academy's symphony orchestra, leading the orchestra as the 2nd Violin Associate Principal player. Exposed to more than just Symphonic works, she has been involved in Opera and Ballet Orchestras, tackling famous works such as The Merry Widow, A Midsummer Nights Dream and Afternoon of a Faun under conductor Volker Hartung. Her quartet was also selected to perform for a tour in Medan Indonesia.
Besides performing, Andrea also enjoys teaching and has volunteered as a music tutor with Kogarah High School Sydney, teaching students from low socio-economic backgrounds.. Her love for teaching began when she was appointed student conductor at her high school symphonic band leading them towards a silver award in the Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging Competition for Bands in 2005. For that she was awarded the Ministry of Education Eagles Award for Leadership for two consecutive years.
